A walk that follows the former Unstone Railway Line and then alongside the River Drone to the proposed Peak Resort footpath, then branching off to Ouzle Bank, down to Unstone Hall and back to the starting point.
We leave the lay-by towards Unstone and take a left up Hardacre Lane, joining the old Unstone Railway Line at the top, taking in the mining history of the area. We then head past Unstone Community Centre, crossing Crow Lane to pass by Ramshaw Lodge to again pick up the railway line passing under the viaduct (this area may be very muddy) carrying the current Chesterfield to Sheffield line.
Following the River Drone we then cross the B6057 into the proposed Peak Resort through the main gate. We follow the footpath clockwise through Roughpiece Wood and at the top cross open fields to Ouzle Bank to admire the views. We then head downhill through the open fields to Unstone Hall before re-crossing the B6057 to return to the lay-by.
Walk grading - leisurely (walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience).
