The Manor House is a fine example of a Queen Anne mansion house in the centre of Sedgefield. It was built as a mansion house of an eminent judge from Bloomsbury who went on to be Chief Justice of Carolina before the American War of Independence. The house was subsequently owned by John Burdon of Hardwick Hall and was then the offices of Sedgefield Rural District Council and Sedgefield Magistrates Court. It holds many original and interesting features including the magistrates cells.
