St Piran's Day - St Ives

About

St Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall and tin-mining and is said to have discovered tin when noticing that white tin flowed from a black fire stone when hot - an early example of tin smelting. The St Piran's flag with the white cross on a black background represents this finding - the white representing tin and the black representing the rock.

St Ives Town Council will again be marking St Piran's Day in 2014, details to be confirmed closer to the date.
