Oh I do like to be beside the seaside – oh I do like to be beside... Newcastle Quayside Seaside! Feel the sand between your toes in the middle of urban NewcastleGateshead at the Newcastle Quayside Seaside which heralds the hope of summertime on Tyneside each year.
One of NewcastleGateshead’s most iconic spaces is transformed every year into a seaside paradise complete with deckchairs, palm trees, candy-striped beach huts, golden sand and a kids' climbing wall. Soak up the sun during your lunch break from the office or enjoy building a sandcastle in the city centre. Returning for another year to the Quayside Seaside is the children's playground area equipped with a slide and a fireman’s pole, which proved a big hit with children last year. Kick back, relax and while away a summer’s day in this city centre oasis.
Recline in the sunshine on a brand new astro-turf area equipped with additional seating, giant outdoor games and an area designed to welcome a roster of street food vendors.
As part of its support, Northumbrian Water is planning a range of fun and interactive activities on the Quayside Seaside to keep beachgoers hydrated and entertained including yoga and pilates. The Northumbrian Water team will work with local businesses to offer free water re-filling stations in the surrounding area.
Esh Civils, the civil engineering division of Esh Construction will begin work on the Quayside Seaside attraction on Tuesday 14 May which is set to be ready for visitors to enjoy over the late-May bank holiday weekend.
