The Newcastle Mela is a free family festival taking place on August bank holiday weekend in Newcastle. It's open to anyone who wants to learn more, be entertained and meet new people as well as enjoy different music, art and food in the heart of Newcastle. With a line up including the hottest contemporary Asian acts as well as traditional displays of music and dance it’s an event likely to appeal to all ages and races. This year look out for exhilarating aerial performance "Sirin (Hope is the Thing with Feathers)" by Newton’s Ladder on Sunday 25 August and electrifying fusion of dance and circus ‘Block’ by Motionhouse in collaboration with NoFit State Circus on Monday 26 August 2019.

This annual South Asian arts festival takes place annually and is based around Pakistani, Bengali, Indian and other South Asian cultures - everyone is welcome to this free, fun and family-friendly event. 

This vibrant, multi-cultural two-day festival sees crowds of thousands filling the park to enjoy live music performances from contemporary and traditional Asian acts, art performances, an incredible range of food, craft stalls, clothing, jewellery and free activities, like face painting and henna tattoos, a British Cycling track and British Army assault course.
