For over 40 years, the Maidstone River Festival has been a cornerstone of community celebration in our beautiful county town and popular around Kent. This free, all-day event brings joy and unforgettable memories to people of all ages. The festival is centred around the River Medway, a frequently under-utilised asset that comes alive for the day.
Event Highlights:
Opening Ceremony: The event kicks off with the Kentish Lady, sailing down the river with the Mayor to greet visiting boats.
Community Raft Race: A hilarious and competitive race featuring hand-made rafts crafted by local teams.
Fireworks Display: The grand finale is an award-winning, free fireworks display at 10 pm from Fremlin Walk in the town centre, visible from various points around the river and town.
Live Music and Performances: From midday until 9 pm, enjoy free live music and performances
