Heritage Open Day at Stanage North-Lees

About

Explore and celebrate the rich history and archaeology of Stanage North-Lees. Meet the Stanage North-Lees Heritage Action Group. Find out the results of our recent archaeological fieldwork, part of our first National Heritage Lottery Funded project.

Stanage-North Lees is located close to Hathersage in the Dark Peak and managed by the Peak District National Park Authority, Stanage Forum and the tenant farmer. It has over 200 archaeological features, dating back to at least the Bronze Age. The estate has been managed for food production and light industry throughout its fascinating history. The open day will take place in our Grade II listed Cruck Barn, the earliest parts of which date to the 17th Century, the barns are usually closed to the public. Come and find out more; there will be opportunities to explore North Lees Hall (usually closed to the public) guided walks and an opportunity to meet the Stanage North-Lees Heritage Action Group.
