Illuminated trees on light trail

About

Once upon a light, the Illuminations at Old Down Country Park returned for 2024, more enchanting than ever. This magical sensory experience illuminated the beauty of the Country Park and Estate, inviting visitors to wander through a mesmerizing world of sparkling installations and dazzling lights. At their own pace, guests embarked on a starlit journey through the grounds, surrounded by an atmosphere of magic, warmth, and festive cheer.

Christmas delights awaited, with a seasonal-themed menu offering Yorkshire pudding wraps and loaded roasties. A pathway led to the festive village, where visitors could toast marshmallows, sip on hot chocolate and mulled wine, and finish the evening with a comforting crumble.

Families could make Christmas wishes and enjoy seasonal crafts for children, adding to the night’s enchantment. Friendly animals greeted guests, creating a truly wondrous evening for all.

This year, the park brought back its "Quieter Sessions" on Monday evenings, offering a calmer experience with reduced noise and smaller crowds for those seeking a more serene visit.

To complete the festive experience, the family and dog-friendly trail ensured a heartwarming Christmas story for all who visited this season.

Access for the Illumination event starts from 4.30pm (subject to booked entry time) with no visitors onsite between 4-4.30pm.
