Connaught@Christmas is back! Start the festivities with a visit to this wonderful, illuminated experience in Connaught Gardens high on cliffs above the sea. Beautiful lit trails will transform the gardens into a magical landscape using different styles of lighting to enhance existing features such as plants, trees and architecture. New themes for 2022 include snowy scenes and glowing domes, with projections across both Jacob’s Ladder and Sidmouth town beach. Father Christmas will be on hand to meet children in the Christmas Garden and there’s some new child-friendly interactive fun including a reindeer trail. Sidmouth Town Band will be playing on Friday 9th and Friday 15th December and Rock Choir are performing on Sunday 11th.
New ‘sensory sessions’ for families with youngsters or adults who need quieter sessions without crowds are available between 4.30pm to 5.30pm on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th. When booking please use the password SENSORYC@C22.
A big part of the event is the Food & Craft Village based at the adjacent Manor Road Car Park. This gives over 40 local traders from the region a chance to tempt visitors with their wares: a variety of delightful crafts, gifts and foodie treats including jewellery, sweets and cakes, giftware, decorative items and pet accessories. With the longer run some traders will change over halfway through, so a great excuse to visit again! The Village is free to enter and with locally produced ciders, ales, mulled wine and tasty hot food available, it’s a great place to meet with friends for a festive drink and meal.
