Lighting of the lights switch on is Friday 23rd November and will start when the lantern parade arrives at the war memorial. This year's parade will start from The Candar and along the High St and thanks to Carol Turner and her team of elves, the lantern parade will be bigger and better than ever! Once again there will be lots of chances to sing some festive tunes, you can meet Santa and the tree which will look extra twinkly this year will be blessed by Father John Roles. Following the light switch on, you are encouraged to meander through the High Street, popping in to the many fantastic shops many of whom will be open for late night shopping and mince pies!
Following on from last year there will be a two day event on Ropery Road Car Park Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th November where there will be lots to do for all ages! This year, due to last year's success, the Ilfracombe Christmas Market will be held on both the Saturday and Sunday and there will be a whole host of artisan stalls, gift ideas and yummy food. Santa will also be making an appearance both days. Saturday will see some of Ilfracombe's finest acoustic musicians take the stage as they entertain you whilst you wander around the market. There will also be the (now infamous) Combe Christmas Bar! Pop along for a festive drink - good and naughty options available! Sunday will see lots of kids entertainment throughout the afternoon until 3.30pm followed by the Combe Christmas Raffle draw. Tickets are available all weekend so make sure to pick yours up!
Last year, one of the highlights was the carol concert led by Canon Michael Rodgers of Pip & Jims supported by the Appledore Town Brass Band! It was a truly special moment last year and this year there will be a few of our local choirs popping by too so it should be something fantastic! Afterwards there will be an informal parade (feel free to dress up!) down to the pier followed by a fireworks display! Something for everyone...
