Stone Relief Carving

About

Design and carve your own relief in Portland Stone on this 3-day residential course with Ann-Margreth. An ideal workshop for beginners, with an introduction to stone carving tools and the techniques you will need to carve your own piece of stone.

Low relief stone carving is the perfect introduction to stone. Working with chisels and hammers you will leave this workshop with a carved stone panel that you can hang at home with pride on an interior or exterior wall. Each stone tile has fixings on the back for you.

This 3-day workshop is ideal for beginners as Ann-Margreth will guide you through the process of drawing the outlines of one or several pebbles onto a piece of Portland Stone. Shown how to create a simple perspective in relief, Ann-Margreth will demonstrate how to use stone carving tools to help you choose the most useful tools to carve out your design.

With the actual carving of the relief taking up to 2 days, you will learn the basics of carving stone by hand.

Once you have completed your carving, you will have the option of adding colour to your relief as Ann-Margreth demonstrates applying colour to stone.
